Crennel, Browns agree to extension

In three years with Cleveland, Romeo Crennel has compiled a
20-28 overall record.
Berea, OHÂ - The Cleveland Browns and head coach Romeo Crennel have agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension, the team announced Tuesday.
Crennel still had two years left on his original five-year deal, and the extension takes him through the 2011 season.
“We’re pleased to get this two-year extension done with Romeo Crennel,” Browns general manager Phil Savage said. “Romeo has the respect of the players, gets along well with everyone in the organization and has proven that he can be a winning NFL head coach.”
The Browns failed to make the playoffs this past season, but demonstrated marked improvement en route to a 10-6 record — as many wins as the team had in Crennel’s first two years combined. In three years with Cleveland, Crennel has compiled a 20-28 overall record.
“We are excited for the upcoming season and will continue to work extremely hard toward making the Browns a consistent competitor within the division and a consistent winner in the NFL,” Crennel said.
The Cleveland Plain-Dealer, citing Crennel’s agent, reported the agreement to be worth around $4 million per season.
