Dodgers name Torre’s coaching staff

Joe Torre will have several familiar faces on his coaching staff in Los Angeles.
Los Angeles, CAÂ - The Los Angeles Dodgers announced Joe Torre’s coaching staff Friday and the new skipper will have some familiar faces by his side.
Torre’s staff includes former Yankee coaches Don Mattingly and Larry Bowa. The former American League MVP Mattingly will serve as the team’s new hitting coach while the 61-year-old Bowa will be the third base coach.
Mattingly was Torre’s bench coach in New York last season and prior to that was the hitting coach from 2004-06. Bowa has spent the last two years as third base coach with the Yankees.
Los Angeles’ new bench coach will be Bob Schaefer while former Dodger Ken Howell will serve as the bullpen coach.
Returning coaches Rick Honeycutt (pitching coach) and Mariano Duncan (first base coach) round out Torre’s staff.
Torre, who coached the Yankees for 12 years, agreed to a three-year deal to become the 26th manager in franchise history on November 1 after Grady Little resigned.
The club also announced that Rick Ragazzo was hired as special assistant to the general manager.
