Indianapolis, IN - Troy Murphy’s tip-in at the buzzer capped Indiana’s 16-point fourth-quarter come-from-behind win against the red-hot Lakers in a thrilling 118-117 decision at Conseco Fieldhouse. Danny Granger led the Pacers with 32 points, while Murphy finished with a solid 16-point, 17-rebound effort for Indiana, which had lost two straight and five of six coming into the game. T.J. Ford logged 21 points, while Rasho Nesterovic and Marquis Daniels added 16 points each in the surprising win. Antawn Jamison added 22 points and eight rebounds for the Wizards, who came into the game having lost seven of eight. DeShawn Stevenson tallied 21 points thanks to 5-of-8 shooting from long range in the victory. Washington had come into the game 0-11 in the Eastern Conference and 0-6 on the road. Devin Harris scored 18 points for the Nets a game after torching the Suns for 47 points. Vince Carter added 16 points on 6-of-17 shooting for New Jersey, which snapped a three-game winning streak. Keyon Dooling had 14 points in the loss, while Brook Lopez had 10 points and nine rebounds.

New York, NY - Brandon Roy scored 23 points and doled out five assists to lead the streaking Portland Trail Blazers past the New York Knicks, 104-97. Rudy Fernandez added 18 points off the bench for the Blazers, who have won five straight overall. LaMarcus Aldridge and Travis Outlaw scored 17 and 16, respectively. Steve Blake ended with 15 points and six assists. Chris Duhon scored 23 points and dished out 13 assists for the Knicks, who have dropped six of their last eight games. Chicago, IL - Andre Miller missed the game-winning three- pointer in regulation but rebounded to score nine of his season-high 28 points in overtime as the Philadelphia 76ers erased a four-game slide with a 103-95 victory over the Bulls in Chicago. Andre Iguodala scored a season-high 25 points to go with nine rebounds and five assists, and Elton Brand, the No. 1 overall pick by the Bulls in 1999, added 22 points and 14 rebounds for Philadelphia, which still sits in last place of the Atlantic Division with an 8-10 overall record. Derrick Rose finished with 24 points on 11-of-19 shooting with six boards but dished out just two assists, while Ben Gordon logged 18 points for the Bulls, who were coming off a 3-4 road trip which included a come-from-behind 103-92 win over Philly on Sunday.

Dallas, TX - Jose Barea’s three-pointer with 50.2 seconds to play led the Dallas Mavericks to a comeback 100-98 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers to open up a season-long seven-game homestand. Dirk Nowitzki had a game-high 29 points and 10 rebounds for Dallas, which has won seven of eight. Jason Terry contributed 26 points in the victory, while Brandon Bass recorded 14 points. Barea finished with 15 points on the night. Zach Randolph scored 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and Baron Davis added 22 points for the Clippers, who have lost eight of 10. Al Thornton had 23 points and nine rebounds, while rookie Eric Gordon had 13 points in the loss. Marcus Camby recorded six points and 15 rebounds for Los Angeles.

Carmelo Anthony added 23 points and six rebounds, while Nene had 19 points and 11 boards for the Nuggets, who have won three straight and five of six. J.R. Smith had 14 points, Kenyon Martin 11 and Linas Kleiza 12 in the victory. Chris Bosh scored a team-high 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Raptors, who have lost four of six. West Lafayette, IN - Kyle Singler had 20 points and tied a career-high with 12 rebounds, as fourth-ranked Duke topped No. 9 Purdue, 76-60, to remain unbeaten in the history of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Jon Scheyer also scored 20 and Nolan Smith contributed 12 points for Duke (8-0), which has won all 10 of its games in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. It’s been a tremendous history of success for Duke against the Big Ten. The Blue Devils are 62-23 all-time against teams currently in the Big Ten, having won seven straight such contests. Robbie Hummel had 15 points for Purdue (5-2), which was coming off an overtime loss in the championship game of the NIT Season Tip-Off at the hands of Oklahoma. JaJuan Johnson contributed 12 points and E’Twaun Moore netted 10 before fouling out. The Boilermakers, who were riddled with foul trouble, shot 37.3 percent from the field. That included a 2-of-13 effort from three-point range.

South Bend, IN - Ryan Ayers and Kyle McAlarney combined to drain 16-of-27 shots from behind the arc as the seventh-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish came away with a 102-76 victory over the overmatched South Dakota Coyotes. Ayers hit nine three-pointers en route to a career-high 35 points to go with six rebounds, while McAlarney made seven from downtown for 27 points as the Irish (6-1) won their second straight game since losing to top-ranked North Carolina in the Maui Invitational championship. The Irish finished with 19 three-pointers, breaking the school record of 17 set against St. John’s in 2004. South Dakota (3-5), which competes at the Division II level, was led by Jesse Becker’s 24 points and six rebounds. Tyler Cain chipped in 12 points, seven boards and five assists in the loss.

Philadelphia, PA - Dante Cunningham scored 20 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as 17th-ranked Villanova beat Penn, 69-47. The Wildcats (7-0), playing their third straight game at The Palestra after winning the Philly Hoop Group Classic over the weekend, also received 14 points from Corey Stokes and 10 from Scottie Reynolds. Harrison Gaines had 14 points and Tyler Bernardini scored 12 for the Quakers (1-5), who dropped their third straight game. Penn shot 32.7 percent from the field and never got on track after falling behind by double digits midway through the first half. Also, the Quakers were outrebounded, 47-24, by their Big 5 rival.

Memphis, TN - Tyreke Evans logged a game-high 24 points as No. 18 Memphis had little trouble disposing of Marist, 100-61. Shawn Taggart posted 21 points and 13 rebounds, while Antonio Anderson and Roburt Sallie added 12 and 11 points, respectively, for the Tigers (5-1), who shot 52.8 percent from the field on the heels of their first loss of the season to Xavier in the finals of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off. David Devezin led a lackluster offensive effort for the Red Foxes (2-4) with 11 points as the team shot a mere 35.0 percent from the floor in the loss. Ryan Schneider and Lawrence Williams each chipped in 10 points while grabbing eight and nine rebounds, respectively.

Coral Gables, FL - Jon Diebler scored 20 points and Ohio State took advantage of the ejection of the Hurricanes’ top scorer, rallying from a 14-point deficit in the second half, to beat 21st-ranked Miami-Florida, 73-68, in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The Hurricanes were ahead 19-7 midway through the first half when Jack McClinton was ejected for swinging at Ohio State guard Anthony Crater. McClinton came into Tuesday averaging 15.8 points, and he had 12 in this game before being ejected. Evan Turner had 19 points and six rebounds for the Buckeyes (4-0), who also received 11 points from David Lighty. Lance Hurdle scored 14 for the Hurricanes (4-2), who also got 10 points and 12 boards from Cyrus McGowan. Dwayne Collins had eight points and 11 boards in defeat.

Final Score: (23) Florida 73, Florida A&M 58

Gainesville, FL - Nick Calathes led the way with 16 points and seven assists as 23rd-ranked Florida topped Florida A&M, 73-58, at the O’Connell Center. Chandler Parsons added 15 points for the Gators (6-1), who have won three in a row and hit the road against Florida State on Sunday. Alex Tyus had 15 points and Erving Walker contributed 13 points in the win. Lamar Twitty led all scorers with 20 points for the Rattlers (1-6), who have lost two in a row and host conference rival Bethune-Cookman on Saturday. Brandon Bryant was the only other player in double figures with 16 points.

Milwaukee, WI - Wesley Matthews scored 18 points to help the 25th-ranked Marquette Golden Eagles defeat Central Michigan, 81-67 at the Bradley Center. Dominic James had 15 points, seven rebounds and five assists for the Golden Eagles (6-1), who opened the season with five consecutive double-digit wins before suffering a setback to Dayton on Saturday. Lazar Hayward and Jerel McNeal both chipped in 14 points, with Hayward grabbing eight boards. Jacolby Hardiman poured in a game-high 20 points and had seven rebounds for the Chippewas (2-4), who also got 19 points from Jeremy Allen.

Philadelphia, PA - Mike Richards’ power-play blast 2:05 into overtime sent Philadelphia over Tampa Bay, 4-3, at the Wachovia Center. With Ryan Malone off for interference, Kimmo Timonen held the puck in the left circle and left a perfect no-look backhand pass for Richards, who blasted the game-winner high and inside the right post. Richards netted two goals, as did Jeff Carter for the Flyers, who wasted a two-goal lead but recovered to snap a two-game slide. Timonen and Joffrey Lupul each added a pair of assists. Martin Biron overcame a rough night and made 34 saves for the win. Mark Recchi, Vinny Prospal and Steve Downie tallied for the Lightning, which failed to secure a win for head coach Rick Tocchet in his return to Philadelphia. Mike Smith allowed four goals on 32 shots in defeat.

Washington, DC - Ville Peltonen, Radek Dvorak and Gregory Campbell each had a goal and an assist, leading the Florida Panthers to a 5-3 win over Washington and handing the Capitals their first regulation home loss of the season. Jay Bouwmeester and Bryan McCabe also scored for the Panthers, who have registered points in five straight games, going 3-0-2 in that span. Craig Anderson made 23 saves to get the win. Nicklas Backstrom, Tomas Fleischmann and Viktor Kozlov each posted a goal and assist for the Capitals, who lost for the sixth time in their last nine outings. The uneven Jose Theodore, who earned his 27th career shutout as the Caps defeated Montreal, 3-0, on Friday, allowed four goals on 21 shots for Washington, which is 9-1-1 at the Verizon Center.

Montreal, QC - Robert Lang’s empty-net goal proved to be the game-winner in a wild finish at Bell Centre, as the Montreal Canadiens blew a a three-goal lead in the third period but eventually barely held on to secure a 5-4 victory over the Atlanta Thrashers. Andrei Kostitsyn’s goal with 5:11 remaining in regulation put the Habs back on top 4-3 after they allowed three Atlanta goals within 59 seconds earlier in the period. Andrei Markov, Matt D’Agostini and Tomas Plekanec also scored for Montreal, which has won three of its last four games. Carey Price allowed four goals on 26 shots in the victory. Ron Hainsey scored twice for the Thrashers, who produced a stellar comeback with the three quick goals that erased a 3-0 deficit, but fell short and fell to 1-6-1 since a five-game win streak in early November. Jason Williams scored with 20 seconds remaining and Johan Hedberg made 28 saves in the losing effort.

Calgary, AB - Fabian Brunnstrom’s second-period tally proved to be the game-winner, as the Dallas Stars defeated the Calgary Flames, 3-1, at the Pengrowth Saddledome. Toby Petersen and Loui Eriksson also scored for the Stars, who won consecutive games for the first time all season. Marty Turco, who entered play with a dreadful 3.61 goals-against average and crummy .868 save percentage, made 36 saves for Dallas. Before the game, the National Hockey League suspended Dallas forward Sean Avery indefinitely, pending a hearing with commissioner Gary Bettman. The renowned pest and antagonist was disciplined due to inappropriate public comments he made to the local Calgary media on Tuesday morning that did not pertain to the game. David Moss had the lone goal and Miikka Kiprusoff, who has started every game this season but one, allowed two goals on 22 shots for Calgary, which had a three-game winning streak snapped.

Glendale, AZ - Enver Lisin scored twice in the third period to lead the Phoenix Coyotes to a 4-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings. Shane Doan also scored for the Coyotes, who have won three of their last four games on the heels of a six-game winless skid (0-4-2). Mikael Tellqvist made 32 saves in the win. Oscar Moller and Alex Frolov scored for the Kings, who have dropped two straight after a two-game win streak. Erik Ersberg allowed three goals on 25 shots in the losing effort.

San Jose, CA - Joe Thornton registered a goal and three assists to lead San Jose to a 5-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Shark Tank. Devin Setoguchi, Dan Boyle, Joe Pavelski and Marc-Edouard Vlasic also scored for the red-hot Sharks, who won their eighth consecutive game. Evgeni Nabokov made 29 saves in the victory. Nikolai Kulemin and Niklas Hagman scored for the Maple Leafs, who saw their brief two-game win streak halted. Vesa Toskala allowed five goals on 30 shots in the loss.
