The Cougars’ last bowl victory came in 1980, when they beat Navy in the Garden Bowl. Houston finishes the campaign having won four of its last five. Burns and Mikko Koivu each registered two helpers. Niklas Backstrom was solid in making 32 saves to get the win for the Wild, who will next host Detroit on Saturday before embarking on a four-game road trip. Devin Setoguchi and Milan Michalek had the goals for San Jose, which had won three of its last four coming into play Wednesday. Joe Thornton had two assists. Evgeni Nabokov was tested often down the stretch, making 29 saves in a losing effort.

Anaheim, CA - Rookie sensation Steve Mason turned aside 27 shots to record his third consecutive shutout, as the Columbus Blue Jackets defeated the Anaheim Ducks, 2-0, at Honda Center.
