Fire Lloyd Carr: Which Sportsbook Will be the First to Offer Odds?#5 ranked Michigan Wolverines coach Lloyd Carr was already on the hot seat entering the first game of the 2007 season.  Michigan has lost three in a row dating back to last season and on Saturday they became the first team in NCAA history to lose to a FCS/Division I-AA team while being ranked in the top 25.  They lost 34-32 to Appalachian State.

“Carr will now likely have to run the table to have even a shot at the BCS, and will have to beat Ohio State to retain his job (whether that is justified or not),” according to Blog Critics Magazine.

Bookmaker.com was said to be contemplating offering odds on when Carr would be fired (not so much if) and it remained to be seen if that online gambling site could get odds up quick enough.

“Wolverines fans and the press were calling for his head all day Saturday,” explained Betting77.com Sports Reporter Stan Moretti.

“That may be one of the great victories in college football — maybe the greatest,” said Appalachian State head coach Jerry Moore. “This victory today — you’ve got to remember these kids have won two national championships — and this is not bigger than those because the championships are in our league, our division. We’re the best that year. But they will never ever forget today’s experience as long as they live.”

“Give Appalachian State credit. I thought they did a great job. I felt that we were not a well prepared football team. That is my job and I take full responsibility for that,” said dejected Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr.

Heading into this last weekend’s start of the 2007 College Football season, the Michigan Wolverines were instilled as a 2 to 1 favorite to win the Big 10 Conference.  This will change by today.

“Wisconsin or Penn State will probably become the new favorites but both had odds of better than 3 to 1 of winning the Big 10 championship,” said Moretti.
