Sharks acquire D Boyle from Lightning (AP)

Although Dan Boyle felt betrayed when the Tampa Bay Lightning decided to trade him, the standout defenseman is feeling much better about it after landing with the San Jose Sharks. The Sharks acquired Boyle from Tampa Bay in a four-player deal Friday, trading defenseman Matt Carle and top prospect Ty Wishart to the Lightning to add their second star defenseman in two days.


Jagr leaves NHL, signs with Russian team (AP)
Jaromir Jagr signed with a Russian team a day after his split with the New York Rangers, leaving the NHL after nearly two decades and returning to the club he joined during the 2004-05 lockout. The Russian League team Avangard Omsk announced the signing of the 36-year-old Czech winger on its Web site Friday.

Sharks trade D Rivet to Sabres (AP)
The San Jose Sharks traded veteran defenseman Craig Rivet to the Buffalo Sabres on Friday for two second-round draft choices. The Sharks also gave up a seventh-round pick in 2010 along with Rivet, the longtime Montreal defenseman who joined the Sharks in a trade late in the 2006-07 season. San Jose gets a second-round draft choice in each of the last two drafts.

Grabovski signs 1-year deal with Leafs (AP)
The Toronto Maple Leafs signed center Mikhail Grabovski to a one-year, $850,000 contract Friday, one day after acquiring him in a trade with Montreal. The 24-year old had three goals and nine points in 24 games with the Canadiens last season. He also spent time with Hamilton of the American Hockey League.

Canucks obtain RW Bernier from Sabres (AP)
The Canucks acquired right wing Steve Bernier from the Buffalo Sabres on Friday for a third-round pick in the 2009 NHL draft and a second-round selection in 2010. Bernier was obtained by Buffalo at the trade deadline in February as part of the deal that sent All-Star defenseman Brian Campbell to San Jose.

Rangers, Naslund agree to two-year deal
Longtime Vancouver Canucks captain Markus Naslund agreed to terms Thursday with the New York Rangers on a two-year deal. Naslund, who scored 25 goals and added 30 assists last season, leaves Vancouver after 12 seasons - including eight as captain. The winger, who will turn 35 later this month, reached a deal with the Rangers on the same day the team agreed to terms with former Buffalo Sabres defenseman Dmitri Kalinin.

Russian team Avangard signs Jagr
Russian team Avangard Omsk says it has signed Jaromir Jagr, a day after the New York Rangers parted ways with the Czech winger. Avangard announced the signing on its Web site Friday, but did not disclose the terms of the contract. Jagr had long been reported to be considering lucrative offers from Russia, and Rangers general manager Glen Sather said Thursday the club could not wait any longer for Jagr to decide where he wanted to play.
